Like a breath of fresh air, check out these three newly released images from Walt Disney Animation Studios’ The Ballad of Nessie (click thumbnails below to see enlarged images). This animated short will be released alongside the upcoming Winnie The Pooh theatrical feature on July 15th, 2011. Looking a lot like an unreleased segment from a mid-forties compilation film (think Make Mine Music), the short was directed by Stevie Wermers-Skelton and Kevin Deters (How To Hook Up Your Home Theatre and Prep and Landing). Animators include Andreas Deja, Mark Henn, Randy Haycock, Dale Baer and Rubin Aquino.

I have no idea what this new Zack Snyder movie Sucker Punch is about – but seeing this trailer (below, edited by Breanne Brennan), with classic Disney princesses inserted into the action, sure helps.

The New Beverly Cinema in Los Angeles will be screening the American premiere of Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair — the full, 247-minute combined cut of Quentin Tarantino's Kill Bill revenge story — from March 27 to March 31. Tarantino had said in 2009 that while he would not be modifying the existing footage for the longer cut, he is adding "a whole new section" to Kill Bill Chapter 3: The Origin of O-Ren, the chapter which the anime studio Production I.G had already animated for the film's original theatrical release in 2003.

For the extended edition, Production I.G produced a new seven-minute sequence. Tarantino described the sequence in 2009: "I actually wrote a much longer script for the anime section during O-Ren's revenge chapter. Remember the guy with the long hair that kills her father? It's like, what happened to that dude? Well, I wrote it and it was the biggest, most elaborate thing I wrote — her taking him down."

On Thursday, the official website of the Yoshimoto troupe's fan club posted a 10-minute video report about "Japan's first Evangelion-themed guest room" at Highland Resort Hotel & Spa, the official hotel of Japan's Fuji-Q Highland amusement park. The hotel room is part of the park's larger revamp of its attractions based on the Evangelion anime franchise.

The hotel room will feature an entry plug-shaped bed where guests can watch DVDs while lying on their backs. Guests can also wake up to a morning call exclusively recorded with the character Rei Ayanami's voice, and an interactive "voice touch panel" and telephone will emit comments in Rei's voice. Lines of dialogue and graphics will appear on the walls with the use of black light lamps, and there will be a statue of Rei as well as replicas of original Evangelion artwork and other features.

Guests will receive exclusive amenities and a badge as presents during their stay. The hotel will begin accepting reservations for its only Evangelion room for 37,000 yen (about US$450) a night (subject to seasonal price changes), and the room will officially open on March 1.

The Yoshimoto Gekijō troupe had previously reenacted the opening and other sequences from the original television anime series in a promotion for the Evangelion: 2.0 You Can [Not] Advance film.

Link to the video of the hotel room.

That host on the far right in the beginning is kinda cute. Hayyy. But the room looks... tight. As in hard to breathe in. Lol. Too much Rei for me. But the room was labeled 00. So I am going to assume there will be many more rooms.

Well. That was... epic... and not in the sense of the overhyped meme context. I thought it was entirely too... grand.

Top 10 Anime Theme Songs

10
'Shiki No Uta'
MINMI
Anime: 'Samurai Champloo'

Meaning "Song of the Seasons" in Japanese, 'Shiki No Uta' is the ending song for 'Samurai Champloo.' MINMI's distinctive voice over a Nujabes-produced beat was a hit with both anime fans and Japanese hip-hop fans. For this reason the song seemed to be a perfect fit for an anime that mixed samurai action with hip-hop culture elements.

Japanese Anime television network Animax has launched a webpage their upcoming X-Men anime television series from MADHOUSE. With the launching of the X-Men Anime website, the network also released the latest trailer for the popular Marvel title.

The X-Men Anime series is set to premiere on April 1. The X-Men Anime series will be shown in the US via G4 together with Animax’s Iron Man, Wolverine and Blade anime series. You can watch the trailer below. It’s Japanese so I wasn’t able to tell what the characters were saying but damn, nobody makes anime better than the Japanese.

We’ve been pretty frustrated with Disney merchandising the last few days. But when Disney does something right, let’s be just as quick to note that. This “how-to” commercial for the Disney Cruise line, in the style of the old Goofy theatrical shorts, is right on the money. Hopefully they’ll make more commercials, and actual cartoon shorts, like this in the future.
